This half-term
This half-term we are very excited to be learning about “life cycle” with lots of different activities that link to all areas of the curriculum. We will be continuing to concentrate on the EYFS areas of personal, social and emotional development and on communication and language as we have observed these to be the main two areas that the majority of the children need to focus on. However, all next steps of each child will be interwoven into the planned activities to ensure that every child is catered for and developing steadily.
Week 1 – Butterflies,
Week 2 & Week 3 – Chicks,
Week 4 – Tadpoles,
Week 5 – Stick insects and
Week 6 – Puppies.
We will be having visits from all the species mentioned above which will mean the children will be able to observe the life cycles happening in real time, particularly of butterflies, chicks and tadpoles.
We will also be celebrating St. David’s Day, Mothering Sunday, Ramadan, St. Patrick’s Day, Holi and Easter.
World Book Day
On Thursday 7th March children can come in dressed as their favourite book character if they wish. Parents are invited to stay at drop off to share a book with your child in the Pre-school. If you cannot make then we are happy for you to come in at another time of your convenience.
Fundraising
We raised nearly £250 at our Christmas fundraiser so thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this. We have also raised £104 so far through commission from parents and staff online shopping through the easy fundraising website. It’s so easy to use, so please sign up if you haven’t done so already, using the QR code at the top of this newsletter. If you’re looking at booking a holiday, please check if the website is listed as donations from this soon add up. Companies such as TUI and Thomas Cook will donate a % of your cost back to us. It’s through fundraising events that we can provide enhanced activities such as buying in living chick eggs and caterpillars which have a huge impact on your child’s learning and development.
Sponsored Frog Jumps
During the week of 18th March all children will be able to participate in our sponsored frog jumps. They will have a minute to see how many frog jumps (bend down and touch the ground, then jump straight up with their hand above their head) they can do. Please see the attached fundraising form.
Easter Celebrations
From Friday 22nd March – Wednesday 27th March your child can come in wearing a home-made Easter bonnet. There will be prizes for any child showing off their creation, but there is only a prize for the first time they wear it. Please let us know if you require any craft resources. We will also be having an Easter egg hunt in the garden for all children to participate in between these dates.
Cost of living
We are aware of that with the cost of living rises this can cause financial difficulties and extra strain on family life. If you are struggling with this, please come and talk to us as there are things we can do to help. Anything you discuss with us will be treated with confidence.
Parent help
Do you have a hidden talent or skill that you could share with our children? Do you have some free time to help children with crafts, share a story or to take an interest in what they’re doing? This is your pre-school just as much as your child’s and we’d love any parent to come in for any amount of time. Please chat to any staff member if you’re interested.
Naming children’s possessions
Please make sure that all lunch boxes, change of clothes bags and any jumpers, jackets, coats, hats etc. (anything that a child may take off or put on during the day) are named. Thank you as the children do not always know what is theirs and we often have children with the same coat or lunch box etc.
Please remember that it is important that you notify us if your child will be missing Pre-school. You must let us know if your child is going to be absent. Once your child is funded it is your responsibility to ensure that your child attends their funded sessions.
